We know you’re all excited to start applying, so here is a small guide of what we’re looking for in an artist. Once you finish applying, you will receive a copy of your response sent to your email. (If you do not get a confirmation email, it means you entered the wrong email address.) You are allowed to edit your application any time before the closure of applications. If you have application/portfolio questions you can ask us anything on Curious Cat or our Twitter DMs.

Application guidelines
-
Portfolio needs to be SFW (NSFW portfolios will be disregarded)
-
Show at least 4 finished art pieces
-
List few different topics you’re interested in
-
Traditional artists must have access to a scanner
-
3D art must be original (no SFM, MMD, etc)
Portfolio platforms recommendations
Portfolios can be showcased in many different ways. The easiest for us to access would be a personal portfolio website, Instagram page, Deviantart Stash folder, or a Tumblr sideblog. Though if you don’t have any of these a twitter moment, Google doc or folder, or an email would also be acceptable but not preferred. Please do not send us a twitter page with buried artwork because we won’t have time to try and find your artwork examples.

No matter which method you use, be sure to triple check that your link works! You will not be notified if your portfolio link is broken.
Types of accepted art
We are accepting digital art, traditional art, and 3D art. When applying, please show art examples that reflect your skills in the area you are applying for. For example, a digital artist applicant should show examples of digital art and not traditional art.
What should be in your portfolio
Your portfolio should showcase your best works and avoid showing sketches or WIPS. We are asking you to show at least 4 fully rendered pieces of art. Your portfolio pieces can show any subject, but showing splatoon artwork is a bonus. Since we have multiple categories that you can apply to, below is a list of what we are looking for in each area.

Applying as a team
We are accepting collaborations into the zine and teams will get to illustrate a full page spread. Only one application per team is needed. When applying, both artists will need to provide a link to their portfolio. If you both have collaborated before, it would be very useful for us to see examples of previous collaborations. It would also be helpful to know how you want to collaborate. You can specify this in the last question of the application.
Applying to be a Rave Angel
A Rave Angel is a back-up artist or as some may call a pitch-hitter. If someone were to drop out, we need to have back-ups artists ready to take their place at any time during the project. If you are able to create fully rendered artwork quickly, then you may want to consider also applying to be a Rave Angel.
